“Thanks to Greg and Char McGraw at Holinshead Lake Outfitters for a wonderful four day stay to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The fall fishing was awesome – it just doesn’t get any better.  We caught and released so many fish we lost count.  We also enjoyed  an island shore lunch one day and a delicious walleye meal one evening.  The weather was perfect, the loons were calling, swimming and diving close to our boat, and an eagle was perched in a pine tree chirping at us.  Very relaxing!
Greg was a great ground guide – showing us a map of where to fish and providing us with ample bait and the hottest jigs.  The boats and motors are new and run efficiently. Holinshead is a remote paradise and the McGraws provide excellent hospitality.  The accommodations are quiet, clean, and spacious.   The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, slow cooker, and almost anything you could ever need for putting together a meal.We highly endorse Holinshead Lake Outfitters to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway and tremendous fishing.  In fact, we may have to celebrate our 21st anniversary at Holinshead also!”

“I would like to say that staying at Holinshead Camp was amazing. I am not a fisherman, but I even enjoyed going out on the boat with our family, catching fish and looking at the beautiful scenery. I was treated like royalty, and Greg and Char are so patient with our grandchildren even when the younger boys wanted to pass out the bait. The solitude of the lake was so relaxing and it was impossible to not catch fish when you put your line in the water. The cabins are more than I expected as they had electricity, indoor plumbing and clean. We loved swimming in the lake by the cabin and were able to use the paddleboat and kayaks when they were available. The owners also have bait on hand and are very generous when you need some and keep the boats ready to go at all times. If you want to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but not lacking in comfort, this place is the place to be. It seems like you are going into the wilderness, which you are, but the camp is clean, well kept and the view will grab you as soon as you drive in the camp. The owners are number one for customer service and friendliness. I recommend this camp with 10 stars!!”

“Hello Greg and Charlene,
I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed your resort. I have done over 30 trips to Canada; most of them fly ins, and have never experienced any better fishing for walleyes. In the week we were there, there was over 20 fish that were over 25 inches, with the biggest being 30.5 inches. The camp was spotless and the cabin was very clean with everything you needed there. Having filtered drinking water and filtered ice was sure a plus, along with all the minnows we could use every day. I would recommend Holinshead Lake to anyone that wants true Fly IN type fishing at a very reasonable price. You sure made our trip enjoyable and we look forward to many more.

Bear Hunts

“Aug. 2009 – I’ve been on three other bear hunts, 1 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec and this trip by far has been the best.  Greg and Charlene are excellent hosts, the camp is great, and the bear baits even better.  I’ve seen a total of 7 bears in 2 days,  five of which came in on the second night.  All four of our party tagged out on our second night.  The first Afternoon we even put a stalk down on a big boar.  Didn’t fish much due to running baits with Greg, but were able to land a few northern Pike and Walleye.  The flexibility of being able to choose your own bait sites literally made the hunt.  Great Job Greg and Charlene. Signed,  Forever a loyal and happy customer, Steven J. “Greg and Charlene run an outstanding bear hunting outfit!  I have hunted with other outfitters in Florida, Texas, Montana, and Ontario.  The quality of the game and management at Holinshead is the best I’ve seen.  I highly recommend hunting with them.  I have no doubts they will have a 100%  success rate this year.  I am not exaggerating this rate.  I don’t believe any hunter at Holinshead will not have an opportunity on multiple bear.  The quality of the stands, baits, and management are second to none!  Greg manages the baits personally, and  does a phenomenal job!!!  From just the party of four I was with, we can verify Holinshead will offer opportunities on multiple bear.  We saw many bear ranging in size from small to 400+ lbs., viewed by Steve Pickard at his stand.  Steve had already harvested his bear and could not take a second one.  He was not able to get out of his stand without spooking the bears that came in after his shot.  So he sat and watched six more bears come in to the bait, and got quite a show from the enormous waddler.  All of us also saw a 400+ waddler from the road, but did not get close enough for a shot.  So, I can verify personally Holinshead has many quality trophy bear available.  After bear hunting at Holinshead this year, I intend to make this an annual trip, and I have no desire to ever hunt bear anywhere else.  The cabins are excellent, equipped with two bedrooms (4 bunks each), and a full kitchen.  They are situated right on Holinshead lake, which is truly majestic.  It is a magnificent lake just to sit and look at.  Charlene and Greg will also provide all the hunters with nice new boats/motors to go fishing.  The lodge there on the lake is so nice, I am considering bringing my wife and kids with me next year.  Please email Charlene at charlene@holinshead.ca and she will answer any questions you may have. “The facility and cabin set-up works well, fishing is good and having the option to fish walleye and northern along with the bear hunt is a great deal!  You have a variety of bear set-ups to pick from.  We like the drive-to access at Holinshead vs the inconvenience of a fly-in camp.  Success rate has been good on bear kill.  The owners are very accommodating and rates for the hunts are affordable.”
